Disadvantages  and Dangers of Booking Online

Booking a cruise vacation online has become very popular, however, most people aren't aware of the many pitfalls in doing that.  Below, are a number of questions you should ask yourself if you're considering booking your next cruise online.

1.  Is the price you see online the total cost of your cruise?  Or are there any hidden fees, such as port charges, government  taxes/fees, a transaction or service fee, a charge for mailing your documents?  When you book with Cruise Planners, you can rest assured that the rate you are quoted, will be the lowest rate available from the Cruise Line and it will include the port charges. We will also tell you the amount for the taxes & gov. fees.  The rate you're quoted will be the rate you pay!   Plus, We NEVER charge a booking fee for our professional  services!

2.  Does the online company require you to give a larger deposit than the cruise line requires?  If so, do you know what they're doing with that extra money?  Are they actually forwarding your money to the cruise line where it belongs, or are they putting it into their own account?  At Cruise Planners you will never be asked to put more money down than the cruise line requires!  Your money is immediately called into the cruise line, and a confirmation is issued for the exact amount given.  Cruise Planners are forbidden to co-mingle funds!

3.  Will the online company lower your cruise rate if the rate should drop?  Prior to sending in your final payment, which is also when cancellation penalties begin, we always check the current rate offered by the cruise line.  If the rate has dropped since you first booked your cruise, before making the final payment, we will have the cruise line adjust your rate, and then we will notify you of the change.

4.  Will there be a cruise specialist available to answer all of your questions?  Many of the online agencies won't have anyone that you can speak to, and your questions will go unanswered. You may not even get a phone number to call!  Your email requests may not get answered in a timely manner, leaving you feeling alone and out there by yourself.  With Cruise Planners, a specialist is there for you through the entire process, right up until your sail date, and even after your cruise.  We're professional, knowledgable and there for you when you need us!  Cruise Planners is known for providing the very best in customer service!

5.  Do you realize that when you book online, you're giving up most of your legal rights, should something go wrong?  Is the company behind the web site honest & reliable & will it still be around by the time you take your cruise?  It's true.  If you were to read all the fine print, which most of us don't do, you'll see all the disclaimers, releasing the online company from any responsibility or liability, if anything at all goes wrong with your booking.  If they book you on the wrong ship or the wrong sail date, if the price is different from what you expected, if the company goes belly up or takes your money & leaves town without even booking you on a cruise at all, you're on your own!  They can't be held responsible, because you "agreed" to the terms and conditions of the sale, even though you probably didn't even take the time to read them!  Cruise Planners is licensed and bonded, and will be there for you should there be any problems.

6.  Will the online company advise you of the proper proof of citizenship documents needed to board the ship?  Will they guide you through the pre-registration procedures now required by the US Border Security Act?  Every passenger must now pre-register online with the cruise line, prior to boarding a cruise ship.  Cruise Planners will provide you with the cruise line's web-site and information to get you registered.  If you don't have a computer, you can come into the office and we'll be more than happy to get you registered.  Everyone must have either a valid passport (they can no longer accept expired passports), or a certified birth certificate with a raised seal, and a photo I.D. such as a driver's license.  Children under 16 years of age don't require a photo I.D.  A social security card or voter registration card are NOT considered proof of citizenship.  For those countries requiring visas, the cruise line will send you the required forms.  IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PASSENGER TO PROVIDE PROPER PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP.  WITHOUT IT, YOU WILL BE DENIED BOARDING.

7.  Are you being quoted a rate that you don't qualify for?   If so, you may have to pay hundreds of dollars more at the pier, before being allowed to board the ship.  Some agencies will ask the cruise line for a senior rate or a residency rate, without checking to make sure you qualify for that rate.  Cruise lines have been cracking down on those practices, and if you don't qualify for the rate you were booked in, they are now making passengers pay the difference, which can be quite costly.  Not a great way to begin a cruise vacation!

So.......Is it really worth all of your time and aggravation, surfing online just to try to save a few bucks, when in actuality it might end up costing you much more than you thought?   A Cruise Planners Specialist will find the right cruise for you, at a great rate that's within your budget, and will be with you all along the way, answering all of your questions, and helping you through any problems that may arise.  There is NO substitute for excellent customer service!  At Cruise Planners, we love our travellers, and will go out of our way to make sure their dream cruise vacation is just that.  Hassle-free!  We treat your cruise vacation just as if it was our own!  Give us a call when you're ready to book your next cruise.  You'll be very glad you did!
